The initial plan for Lala's baptism was to coincide with her first birthday. However, due to Lala getting admitted last January and adhering to an old belief, we decided to have her officially baptized for her protection against bad luck and illness.
The entire event was DIY-planned and organized with limited time for preparation. The original theme idea was "Ballerina Bunny" in pink and white. However, since it would be on the same day as my mom's birthday, I felt a more mature theme was appropriate.
How did I arrive at the "Rustic Lemon Themed" concept?
The first months of 2023 were challenging, but looking at my little girl, she truly melted our worries away like lemon drops (haha). Anyway, I wanted something different from the usual baptism themes, so we chose a green and yellow, rustic lemon theme.
We aimed to create the sweetest baptism for our little one who makes our troubles dissolve like lemon drops!
Food, Venue, Dessert:
I desired everything to align with the theme as this would be the first event for Lala where I would invite real guests, so there was considerable pressure. I rented a venue that matched my vision of a garden-like setting. Despite having our "paluwagan," I added food since we had guests.
For the dessert buffet and backdrop, we enlisted the same supplier who worked on Lala's Bear-Themed Baby Shower. We also opted for the same supplier for the cake and cupcakes.
Invitations, Favors, Candles:
As for the invitations and favours, I crafted them myself. As mentioned, I wanted everything to match my vision and adhere to the theme. I only printed a few invitations and created a digital version for the rest of the guests.
For favours, I purchased pocket rosaries online, and every detail was done by me—from placing them in the case to creating the cards. For the godparents, I bought mugs, added their names for a personal touch, placed them in a box, and included personalized tea bags.
Overall, I believe it turned out just as I had envisioned. Honestly, I may have gone all out for just a baptism, but I hope that someday when Lala grows up and sees this, she will be happy.
