I've always been a bibliophile at heart, finding solace and joy in the pages of a good book. However, with the frequent changes in our living space, having a bookshelf became impractical. Instead, I opted for a digital drive that houses nearly 500 books, a little secret known to those who share the drive with me. These books have been my companions, taking me to distant places, introducing me to new ideas, and acquainting me with diverse characters.
Now, with the arrival of Lala, I couldn't help but dream about the moments we'll share over our mutual love for books. Even before she made her grand entrance into the world, I embarked on the mission of starting Lala's first collection of books. My preference leans towards classic and timeless stories that have stood the test of time, and I consider myself fortunate that Lala seems to enjoy our story times together.
Contrary to any expectations, I didn't force this connection. To my surprise, at just one-month-old, Lala displayed an interest in our reading sessions, eventually developing a fondness for the story of Tangled. It's a heartwarming experience to witness her tiny eyes light up with curiosity as we explore the enchanting world of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider.
As a parent, there's an indescribable joy in passing down the tradition of storytelling and the magic that resides within the pages of a book. Lala's early inclination towards our reading sessions not only brings me immense happiness but also fosters a hope that she, too, will grow to love books as much as her bibliophile parent.
In the ever-evolving journey of parenthood, these shared moments of literary exploration become the building blocks of a special bond. I eagerly look forward to the day when Lala can choose her own books, share her favourite stories, and maybe even introduce me to new literary worlds.
So here's to the beginning of a beautiful chapter—of parenting and reading with Lala; where every page turned is a step closer to a lifetime of imagination, knowledge, and cherished memories.
